Element 6

Lately I have been so busy trying to manage the balance between work and uni that I have neglected one of the most important things in my life - brunching. Ok that may have come out a little ridiculous but seriously picture this - a sunny Saturday morning, a cosy cafe buzzing with locals, the fragrant aromas of coffee, plates of eggs stacked amongst bacon, chorizo, mushrooms, haloumi and sourdough bread - if you did not just fall in love with that descriptIon...you'd be lying. Element 6 ticked all the boxes for that perfect scenario depicted above and despite having to go through horrible traffic to get there, it was worth the while!

Vesta Italian

Last week I was invited to try out the recently relaunched Vesta Italian Restaurant, located in the increasingly buzzing Darling Quarter precinct at Darling Harbour. Italian Cuisine and pasta in general excites me so much - after all I am a big fan of carbs, endless servings of bolognese sauce and of course, there's the dessert.

Singapore + Langkawi + Shanghai Holiday Eats

February was such an awesome month for me. My family and I visited Singapore where we were dazzled by the modern city and all the glamour that surrounded Marina Bay Sands - it really does live up to the hype! Following that we relaxed to our heart's content at a beautiful island resort in Langkawi Malaysia. I will forever remember the blissful days of sipping coconuts by the pool till sunset. Then it was the routine trip back to Shanghai to eat all my favourite desserts and a couple of new ones - always a highlight. As I compiled the images this post, I couldn't help but feel happy because all the pictures reminded me of the "delicious" fun I've had!

Holidays are seriously underrated!

Copo Cafe & Diner

It's always refreshing to discover brunch places that are not in Surry Hills or in the City - especially when there is ample parking nearby. Copo Cafe & Diner is situated in Drummoyne and on one fine Saturday morning, M and I ventured out to try this renowned cafe. Throughout the car ride, all I could think about was eggs, eggs and eggs. Clearly obsessed.

The Fish Shop

This is the third post in a row where I've reviewed a place near Potts Point and I must say it's been fun discovering all these new fun eats near where I work. Led by Executive Head Chef Jeremy Strode of Bistrode CBD, Fish Shop is a casual and quirky eatery in the heart of Potts Point, serving fresh seafood, cheeseburgers and the most amazing ice cream sandwich I have ever discovered.

House of Crabs

When I first heard the restaurant name House of Crabs, my heart literally stopped. The thought of a place housing my favourite sea creature was just too much to handle, especially when I'm hungry. Turns out this place does stay true to its name. The crabs come out in boiler bags and the whole process is one delicious albeit a bit messy affair. If you're after fresh seafood and tasty seasonings to boot, this place is for you.

LL Wine & Dine

I never would have imagined myself to be dining at a place where it used to be an illegal gambling den and adult bookshop...but hey things happen! I was recently invited to try out LL Wine & Dine at Potts Points, a super eclectic and funky Modern Asian eatery near where I work, up the lane way of Llankelly Place. A close walk from King's Cross Station, LL Wine & Dine is perfect for fun casual dinners that involves killer cocktails and delicious Asian food with a twist.

Harajuku Gyoza

The first time I saw the sign for Harajuku Gyoza opening up at Potts Point, I remember jumping with excitement because it was a close 2 minute walk from where I work. But for some reason I didn't physically try out the place until recently (no idea where that delay came from) and it definitely lives up to the cute and quirky hype. If you have severe dumpling cravings that need to be satiated, trust that Harajuku Gyoza will sort you out.

Cafe Sydney

2013 was a quick year but I must say 2014 is catching on in speed. I mean almost a month ago, I was at Cafe Sydney enjoying my Christmas Eve dinner and lamenting on the events of 2013 and before you know it, January 2014 is already nearly over. Nevertheless I do enjoy looking back on the delicious meals I've had, especially when it's at one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney.

Cafe Sydney is located at Customs House Sydney which is a 3 minute walk from Circular Quay Station. The epitome of beautiful food matched with Sydney's best views.

Three Williams

One of my New Years resolutions for 2014 is to jump on the bandwagon earlier than I usually do. 20 existing blog reviews and a zillion Instagram shots later, here's my take on the latest "talk of the town" cafe, Three Williams. Wait. Who am I kidding? In the food blogger sphere, there's already a "newer" place that's got everyone talking.

Regardless, some extra food porn images won't do anyone any harm - gosh looking back, that Egg and Bacon Burger looks pretty amazing...

China Republic

Happy New Year! My first blog post for 2014 is China Republic - a relatively new Modern Chinese restaurant that recently opened up at World Square. I tried this place out a few weeks ago for my friend's birthday and let's just say...who said fine dining for Chinese food didn't exist? China Republic is an impressive two storey restaurant with stunning modern decors and a comprehensive menu covering a mix of traditional Chinese dishes with fusion influences.

Highlights of 2013

2013 is slowly coming to an end and I am happy to conclude that my tummy has been very well spoilt this year. I was reflecting on my 2012 recap blog post and by comparison I've come to realise that my dessert consumption has risen exponentially. Concern has been expressed by friends who have somehow convinced me to join the gym this year - yes a huge miracle and YES I have been going still. Another miracle.

Anyhow here's a quick (but not really because there's like 80 photos) recap of some foodie highlights for me in 2013 - especially the sweet ones :)

Trio Cafe

In this world there are a few things that I consider to be genius inventions and all day breakfast menus sits comfortably as one of these things. Trio Cafe is located literally next to Bondi Beach along Campbell Parade and serves gorgeous breakfast, brunch and lunch all day. ALL DAY. M and I devoured the below at 3pm - what could possibly be more genius and amazing than this?

Otto Ristorante

Dining at Woolloomooloo Wharf almost always guarantees a pleasant if not, amazing experience. Recently for a work lunch, I went to Otto Ristorante, the place where I've seen so many Instagram raves but never had a chance to try. Cue excitement! The verdict? It's as good as they say, perhaps even better. Food is simply divine and don't get me started on the view and atmosphere.

The Sailor's Club

The Sailor's Club has been on my MUST-VISIT list since its opening, so you can imagine how ecstatic I was when I heard at work that this year, our Christmas Lunch was to be held here. I believe I was one of the first to reach my arms up and give the jump of approval. On the morning of, it was slightly raining and I was so upset because let's face it, lunch at Rose Bay when the weather is bad is well...a waste. The weather Gods must've heard my desperate plea because as we made our way to the restaurant, the gloomy clouds disappeared and suddenly it was all blue skies and sunshine again! :)

Jones The Grocer

Those of you who frequent Westfield at Pitt St Mall, be it to shop and blow out all your salary (aka me) or those who are there to enjoy the food, you probably have noticed Jones The Grocer. Sitting on Level 5 alongside the amazing food court, Jones The Grocer is a premium Australian gourmet food emporium that offers an exclusive range of private label branded gourmet products - think international artisan produced ingredients etc. Apart from it being a food store, it's also a restaurant/cafe that's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving a range of dishes that seems to merge Modern Australian cuisine with fushion influences. Oh and can I just say that the desserts here are an absolute killer?

Nick's Seafood Restaurant

Darling Harbour is renowned for its strip of restaurants and it is my go-to location for decent meals with spectacular views - especially if you're lucky enough to catch the fireworks every odd Saturday here and there. Last week I was invited to Nick's Seafood - a restaurant I've always wanted to try out but never had the chance to. Situated on the Cockle Bay Wharf side, the Nick's is an elegant dining space that serves fantastic seafood dishes and killer desserts.

Korean Banquet Showcase

Last week I was invited to an amazing Korean Banquet Showcase hosted by the Korean Cultural Office in Sydney. Attendees of the event included food media and fellow food bloggers and we were all treated to a scrumptious 12 Course Traditional Korean Royal Court Style Meal, which reinforced the delicious variety of foods amongst Korean culture. The second image you see here is merely a snapshot of the side dishes that were on offer that night!
